![]() I haven't checked the older versions yet. I opened the TrueType Maestro font that came with the 2007b maintenance upgrade. On ebony and ivory I'll tinkle all day long Is this the version of Maestro that has been shipping for some years (ie, with the "tremolo" bug that has a doubled up entry in each of the chararacters, /// and //, or is this the "fixed" version that Carla told me has recently been shipped for the Mac? On Ebony And Ivory I'll Tinkle All Day Long Postscript fonts had code pages only for English, Spanish, Italian, German and Scandinavian and eastern european languages. When the font is installed, the system will choose which code page in the font to use, based on the language and keyboard chosen by the user. But even if the font designer used a custom encoding they still have to have the right encoding for Mac OS and Microsoft Windows code pages, which Maestro doesn't.įor those of you who are wondering what code pages are, an open type font can contain the alphabets of hundreds of languages in a single font. It is possible that I'm looking at the wrong code page, but I don't have the time to check out each one, there are hundreds of them. ![]() The Maestro font had an incorrect encoding indicated for every single glyph in the font. I also opened the TrueType Engraver Font Set and there were 5 character slots that had incorrect encoding. I am not a font expert, but I am sure there is something very wrong with how this font was generated which is definitely causing problems. The code page seems to be all wrong and there are some unusual settings in the font header. There is something very werid about Maestrot. We are still puzzling over the meaning of "double bit" and "single bit" font types (a literal translation from the Danish warning dialog). I recently had a client tell me that their printer couldn't print my pdf files because of a maestro font problem. Perhaps someone else who knows more about encoding can check it out, in case I opened the font incorrectly.įinale 2006d, TGTools, Patterson Plugins, Quickeys, Acrobat 7 Pro I was wondering if this could be a cause of Finale's problems with generating eps., postscript files and pdfs. If the font is, in fact, encoded incorrectly, it could be the source of numerous problems. I changed the font layout to display both names and unicode mode and also checked the Mac OS and Windows code pages and all of them had the same red headers on every character. I was rather shocked to see that the entire font had red headers on every single character, indicating that there was a possible encoding problem. I had to check up on where to place some characters in a music font I'm creating, so to make the font compatible with Maestro I opened the TrueType version in Fontlab Studio.
